Port Captains are CPS members who volunteer to welcome new boaters and visitors to their area. |
Each Port Captain maintains a file of local information of interest to the visiting skipper such as:

Navigation hazards which may not be apparent on current charts |
|
|
Location and telephone numbers of local doctors, dentist, ambulances and rescue squads |
|
|
Location and telephone numbers of mechanics, repair yards, sail repair, marine fittings and marine equipment stores |
|
|
Provisioning sources, recommended restaurants and motels |
Recipients of any information from Port Captains must be made aware that the information is given in good faith and to the best of their knowledge, and must agree to indemnify and save harmless the Port Captain, and Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, for any loss or damage that may be sustained as a result of the advice offered.
